Is Possible to Download Songs On Spotify?

You may be asking, “Can you download music from Spotify?” and the short answer is… YES! It’s possible to download the song in your Spotify app to listen to your music and podcasts offline when you can’t access the internet.

What Is Downloading Songs on Spotify, Exactly?

You’ve likely heard people refer to downloading many times in the past, but what does it actually mean to do so, especially in terms of downloading on Spotify?

With Spotify, you can download songs, albums, playlists, or even podcasts. When you download any of these things from Spotify, you don’t download the file itself. You are actually saving them for offline listening on Spotify app only. In other words, you would not be downloading the song audio file. So, you wouldn’t be able to use the file to send or post it somewhere else.

It’s also important to know that when you download anything from Spotify, it will consume storage space on the device that you’re using. So, the more items you download from Spotify, the more space it will consume on your device. This also means that if you download a song, album, or podcast in your Spotify mobile app, you won’t be able to listen to it offline on your desktop or web app.

Why Do I Need to Download Songs and Podcasts on Spotify?

In case you’re wondering why you would ever need (or want) to download a song, think about this… While Spotify is an online platform primarily, what would you do if you were traveling or in another situation where you don’t have access to a WiFi connection?

Music is one of those things that’s great in virtually every situation. There’s a song (or MANY songs) for every occasion. People play songs about the three most important rights of passage in life – birth, marriage, and death. So, of course, people have been enjoying listening to music in less significant situations in life, as well.

That being said, you’d not want to find yourself in a situation where you can’t enjoy hearing your favorite songs when you were looking forward to doing so. Thankfully, Spotify has taken this into consideration which is why they offer the feature to “download” songs so that you can enjoy listening to them OFFLINE. You read that correctly, you can listen to songs without an internet connection too!

Note About Spotify Download Music

  • This feature will only work on Spotify’s apps (mobile and desktop), not on its web browser.
  • This feature is only available with a PAID Spotify subscription, not a FREE plan.
  • The song needs to be added to either a playlist (OR) to your “favorites” in order to be downloaded. If you wish to download an individual song without adding it to an existing playlist, you’ll have to create an exclusive playlist for that song.

Now, let’s talk about downloading with Spotify so you can enjoy songs, playlists, and podcalists from anywhere.
